Despite coming to the sport late, Neil van der Ploeg has quickly acquitted himself with a series of high quality results, which he hopes to add to in 2018 after joining Madison Genesis.
The sprinter and prologue specialist transferred from mountain biking to road in 2013 and has since won stages at the Tour of China, Tour de Kumano and in the Australian National Road Series.
A win at the opening round of the Australian National Road Series in 2017 showed Van der Ploeg could go the distance, as he outsprinted his rivals after a gruelling 227-kilometres from Grafton to Inverell – arguably Australia’s most difficult and prestigious one day classic.
"I’m really looking forward to getting stuck into the UK racing scene.
"I’ve known many Australian riders who have gone over to the UK and said great things about the racing, in particular, the famous Tour Series criteriums – technical, often wet and big crowds – sign me up!"
