Connor Swift came to prominence with victory at the 2018 British national road race championships, taking a stunning solo victory.
Between winning races, Swift also gained acclaim for teaching Neil van der Ploeg how to become a proper Yorkshireman.
With three wins to his name in 2017, Connor Swift may have joined Madison Genesis as a relative unknown in 2017 but quickly became notorious.
Victories came at rounds six and ten of the Tour Series, as well as the team's only national road race win of 2017 at the Leicester Castle Classic.
Debut appearances in the Tour de Yorkshire and Tour of Britain failed to phase the young talent, as he featured in breakaways at both events.
It has been a remarkable comeback for Swift who joined the team after recovering from a horrific mid-season crash in 2016.
Sustaining six vertebrae fractures, seven rib fractures, one fracture on the base of his skull, metacarpal fractures on his right hand, right scapula fracture, small pneumothorax on right lung and a left tibial laceration, Swift made a stunning recovery.
Back on the bike within months, racing and winning at regional level showed his level of commitment to returning quickly and seamlessly to the sport.
But nobody could have predicted the level of Connor's success in his first year as a full time professional.
"The races I want to perform in are mainly the UCI ones – they are the races that are on the radar of the top teams.
"First – if we are selected – will be the Tour de Normandie. I came second on a stage last year but unfortunately didn’t make the GC move, so that’s the first target. I’ve got to go there firing on all cylinders and going to win the race.
"Then – another race I’m hoping we can get invited to – is Tro Bro Leon. It’s a race I really enjoyed in 2017 and if we get selected I want to be up there.
"In the UK, the CiCLE Classic is one I really enjoy. Last year Johnny and I were in a great position on the final lap and we both punctured, so we will be looking to put that right.
"Then there is the Tour de Yorkshire, where the team have GC hopes."
