Madison Genesis has announced that Dave Povall will join the team as co-manager, alongside sport director consultant Roger Hammond for the 2016 season.
Povall’s appointment follows the news that Hammond will work with Dimension Data as a sports director, splitting his time between Madison Genesis and the World Tour team.
Povall takes on the day-to-day running of Madison Genesis, supported by Hammond at key events.
As a vastly experienced individual, Dave Povall’s credentials include guiding UK Youth to overall victory at the 2013 Tour Series and winning the 2015 Rutland-Melton CiCLe Classic with Steele Von Hoff as manager of NFTO.
Now tasked with helping the Tour Series champions defend their title, Povall is already looking forward to the challenge.
He said: “It’s an honour to have been asked to co-manage Madison Genesis for 2016, especially as it’s such an exciting year for the team - partnering with new mentor, Mark Cavendish - forming the CVNDSH Scholarship.
“Over the course of the last three years Madison Genesis has consistently improved, attracting and developing both young, promising riders and some experienced international stars, too.
“The challenge to improve, whilst working within such a professional set-up made our conversations very simple - it genuinely felt like the perfect fit.
“The squad for 2016 looks fantastic - I’ve worked with a couple of the guys previously, and everyone has been very welcoming and I’d like to think we’ll be competitive throughout the season.”
Roger Hammond, who will continue to co-manage the team added: “I'm really pleased to have Dave on board, his knowledge of the UK scene is second to none. The added support will help Madison Genesis push further again this year.”
Dominic Langan, Madison CEO, said: “I am delighted we have secured Pov as our team manager for this coming season to work alongside Roger. We have known Pov for some years now and he is a very organised, focused and experienced manager with a proven track record on the UK race scene and a great fit to help us realise our Madison Genesis ambitions for 2016.”
The new-look team will be launched at iceBike* this year on Saturday 27 February at Arena:MK. Tickets for the event are free and can be booked here.
