Madison Genesis endured stage six of the 2015 Aviva Tour of Britain, as the general classification contenders set a relentless pace at the head of the race.
Early in the 192-kilometre stage from Stoke-on-Trent to Nottingham the peloton split, with around 30 riders distancing themselves from the remaining 80 riders in the race.
With no threat to the points standings and an extremely challenging profile for the day, the peloton would conserve energy, finishing 45-minutes after the stage winner.
With the general classification now all but decided, stage seven from Fakenham could be the day a breakaway finally succeeds at the tour – and with the final three categorised climbs, the King of the Mountains competition will also be concluded.
Currently Tom Stewart and Mark McNally are joint second in the competition, three points adrift of the lead.
