The ten mile Individual Time Trial was based on a loop around Knowsley Safari Park and for the third day in a row on this Tour of Britain, saw heavy rain for the entire stage.
All five Madison Genesis riders were nervous, but excited for the only International Time Trial on the team's calendar. Riding first for the team, Ian showed he was recovering well from the crashes of the first two days to post a time that was only two and a half minutes behind an incredibly fast Sir Bradley Wiggins.
Next off for the team was young Alex Peters. Riding a smooth, calculated effort, Alex posted a time just two minutes slower than that of stage winner, Wiggins, and good enough for the sixth best time for the Under 23 riders.
Liam and Andy both set off a lot later in the starting order and rode great Time Trials, maintaining their high place in the overall classification.
“The guys rode really well today. We were up against two of the quickest Time Trial experts in the world, so it was always going to be a tall order. Alex rode a great Time Trial despite feeling he hasn't got everything out on the road, making it all the more impressive. Tomorrow we return to the hills and the potential opportunities to ride aggressively, which the team are looking forward to.” Team Manager - Roger Hammond
