The fourth round of the Pearl Izumi Tour Series was held in the Welsh coastal town of Aberystwyth. Unfortunately the town was being buffeted by wind that was sending waves high over the finishing gantry. Faced with the extraordinary weather conditions the organisers was forced to re-route the circuit, cutting the long exposed coastal road to a minimum and re-locating the finish line to a more sheltered location in the centre of the town.

The new reduced-in-length lap and high winds ensured the bunch didn't stay together very long. Indeed, with only five kilometres covered the group started breaking up. A couple of laps later and Andy Tennant managed to get into a group of four riders that went clear, including eventual winner Ed Clancy.

The group worked really well together with everybody contributing equally, knowing they were safer in the breakaway than in the main bunch. At one point it looked like they would get the rare pleasure of lapping the field but it wasn’t to be. Under the pressure of constant counter attacks (all adequately covered by the rest of the Madison Genesis team) the hugely reduced main bunch started to regain ground. In the end the four leaders managed to maintain their advantage to the finish with Andrew Tennant finishing fourth. In the main group the further two contenders for Madison Genesis massed really well near the front with Dean Downing finishing second in the bunch sprint for a fine sixth place and Liam 10th, ensuring second place on the night for the team.

"Another very strong performance by the team tonight. With really difficult conditions, the lads rode with lots of determination and the result shows. " Team Manager – Roger Hammond

"Another solid performance from the Madison Genesis team, we really believe a podium finish in the end is achievable now!" Team Rider – Liam Holohan
