The people of Colchester turned out in their droves to support the sixth round of the Pearl Izumi Tour Series. The slightly revised, tight city centre circuit created a fantastic atmosphere for the evening.
The race reverted back to the “fast and furious from the start” format after the brief respite in Torquay, with several riders already distanced in the first laps. It didn't take long for the break to form with three riders going clear after the first sprint. Madison Genesis missed it and after a brief chase it was apparent these guys were not going to be seen again without sacrificing the entire team and with that the classification.
The decision was made to concentrate on the team classification, but it was a risky business with such a tight twisty approach to the finish. In the chaotic bunch sprint Dean managed to sprint to ninth place, Liam followed closely in 12th with Jack Pullar our third placed counter in 18th.
"It was a difficult night for the team, missing the break meant we were chasing our tails all night and achieving a lot less than we'd hoped. In the end we salvaged a series defending result so we can go on into next week with a push to fight for the podium places." Team Manager - Roger Hammond
