Recently the Madison Genesis Team competed in their first international race, the Trofeo Palma. This 116km race was contested on a flat 11.6 km circuit in the Centre of Majorca's capital city, Palma.

The riders were greeted by perfect racing conditions and it wasn't long before the first attacks of the day started. Young Seb Bayliss, in only his second race as a senior, was attacking hard and spent half a lap in the breakaway before being re-absorbed in the peloton. The opportunities to distance the main group were few and far between, with Movistar and Team Sky doing most of the pace setting. Eventually one rider was able to snap the elastic and establish a lead. He stayed away for six laps before being caught in time for the inevitable bunch sprint. Three crashes in the last three kilometres managed to wreak havoc, splitting the main group into several pieces.

Lotto's Kenny De Haes won the significantly reduced bunch sprint whilst Dean Downing and Alex Peters managed to avoid the crashes in the front to finish 32nd and 23 respectively. The entire Madison Genesis team finished the race and are excited to take the lessons learned from today and apply them tomorrow.

"I'm really pleased with how our first international race went today, particularly with our youngsters. It isn't easy to line up and race with the highest profile riders in the world like Wiggins, Froome, etc. But they all took it in their stride, producing very encouraging rides. Tomorrow's route is less predictable, so we will look to make the most of that"  Team Manager – Roger Hammond
